This morning on Sportscenter they did a top ten of the most dramatic moments in sports history. This was of course on the heels of the US Womens Soccer game yesterday. Some of it I agreed with, some I didn’t. I did some research this morning and came up with this quick list. I might be forgetting some but this is a list that is sure to get you goosebumps.

As eastsideryno has finished his top moments, I’d just like to quickly summarize what my top New York Sports Moments (since 1990) have been. I’m not going to summarize the events much, just simply list them off and make a quick comment. I can not compete with the coverage, nor would I want to repeat what East Side Ryno has already said.
Anyway here it goes…
10. Cone and Wells’ Perfect Games
The Perfect Game is the coolest thing in sports, and the Yanks had one consecutive years to two loveable guys. I was supposed to be at each of the games, but had to surrender tickets to play baseball and buy cabinets! Yeah, just absurd!
9. 1994 Knicks Playoff Run
Simply put, if this video doesn’t make you realize this was important, I don’t know what can. Garden doesn’t rock like that everyday.
8. 1990 Super Bowl
Wide Right.
7. 1996 World Series
Just an amazing series that I will remember for the rest of my life, Joe Girardi’s triple, Leyritz’s home run, and the image of Charlie Hayes catching the final out!
6. St. John’s shocks Duke
This was one of the best games I’ve ever been to in my entire life. Simply put given the situation it was unbelievable. St John’s was playing like crap, way under 500 in the Big East and no chance of going to the tourney. Duke meanwhile was in the top 5 in the country per usual. This game had all the makings of a blowout in front of a sold out Garden crowd. The johnnies played well early but surrendered to Duke down the stretch and it looked like it was over with just about 3 minutes to go. Duke was up by 12 and it all seemed over. Then the Johnnies put together an amazing three minutes and tied it with 20 seconds to go. Unfortunately Duke had the ball for the last shot, but that wasn’t going to stop Marcus Hatten, my man. With 5 seconds left and Duke dribbling it out, Hatten stole it and drove to basket where he was fouled as time ran out. He then hit the first free throw in walk off fashion in a crazy end to the game.
5. Larry Johnson’s 4 Point Play
You can’t describe this. From Defeat to victory when you never thought it possible
4. 1994 Rangers Stanley Cup
We don’t need to read much to know eastsideryno is an Islander fan and hates the Rangers. This explains the absence of the Rangers Stanley Cup run in the countdown. Simply, its one of the greatest New York Sports moments of all time, and with no offense to the Island crew, the best New York Hockey moment of all-time. From Matteau’s goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, to taking home the cup, this is a run that is considered one of the most exciting in the history of the NHL. Watching Matteau’s goal on commercials during the playoffs this year atleast once a day, gives me goosebumps every single time.
3. 2001 World Series Game 4 and 5
The videos for this are poor, but the fact is these two games were incredibly emotional. The most amazing back to back World Series games of all time. You will never see a team comeback from down two on their final out on back to back nights again. Remarkable. After 9/11 this playoff run was so important and emotional, and made it so much worse when what happen afterwards. It was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in sports.
2. Game 7 2003 ALCS
Unbelievable moments here…I will always remember Jorge’s flare to tie the game just as much as Boone’s HR. During this game I partiscipated in ridiculous superstitions and banging my head against a wall, that I’ve only done one other time…and you can guess when…
