Manningham Hurt…Time For My Man Victor Cruz!!!

Posted in Giants on September 30, 2010 by EAST SIDE RYNO

(ESPN) Wide receiver Mario Manningham was a surprise addition to the New York Giants’ injury report on Wednesday. According to the team, the wide receiver has a concussion. Head coach Tom Coughlin said Manningham will not practice and will undergo further testing to gauge his availability. Manningham underwent a test Wednesday morning before he was held out of practice. Manningham told the Giants of his injury after Sunday’s loss to the Titans. Coughlin was surprised by Manningham’s revelation, which puts his status for Sunday night’s home game against the Chicago Bears in doubt. “He really appeared to be fine Monday when we saw him,” said Coughlin, who will move Victor Cruz to the third receiver spot if Manningham cannot play. “We didn’t expect there would be any slowdown in his performance today. There was. So hopefully we can do the test again and see how that comes out. We are a little bit surprised that there is an issue.”

Time for the Minuteman to shine! Yea I know Manningham’s concussion is a blow to this offense, but  I gotta say that I’m pretty excited about seeing Victor do his thing on national television Sunday night. With one of the greatest performances in preseason history, Victor looks like he’s ready to spark this so-far shitty offense. As for the season-ending injury for safety Michael Johnson – not that big of a loss. The dude has been getting beat downfield every play. I’m pretty sure we have a safety on the practice squad who could perform better than Johnson. Sunday @ 8:20pm – Giants vs. Bears. You better fuckn watch it.

Shout out of the Week

THURSDAY NIGHT TELEVISION…with Sunday night in a close second. What’s better than sitting on the couch, knowing that it’s the fuck’n weekend while watching awesome shows? Think about it: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Jersey Shore, The League, and The Office. And let’s not forget the occasional Thursday Night Football game. It’s kind of sad that it’s Monday and I’m already counting down the days till Thursday night.

Getting Closer to October

Posted in Yankees on September 27, 2010 by EAST SIDE RYNO

Wacky game last night. Mariano blows another save, but the Yanks manage to snap their four-game losing streak. This hasn’t been the best September for the Bombers, but I’m still not worried. It’s been a great season so far and the Yanks have a tendency to struggle at the end of the season, especially when they’re guaranteed a playoff birth. Look at the ’98 and 2000 seasons. Even though the Yanks had the most wins in American League history in 1998, their September was abysmal. In 2000, the Yankees at one point lost 14 of 17 games. What happened during October in both of those seasons? Championships. As long as the Yankees come prepared for the playoffs, I have no problem with their lackluster performances. I’m sure anyone would take a strong October over a strong September any day.

Running Out Of Patience

This is getting embarrassing. Losing to the Colts on the road is one thing. But losing at home to the Titans is a completely different story. This should’ve been an easy victory. Instead, the Titans destroyed the GMen. I can go on forever talking about the shitty mistakes on both sides of the ball – Eli’s poor decisions, Bradshaw’s fumbles, the entire O-Line, and 11 penalties (5 personal fouls).

Five personal fouls – are you kidding me?? This tells me how undisciplined our team is. I blame this entirely on the coaches. What happened to Coughlin being a tyrant? One of the reasons the Giants hired him was to keep all the players in line. Now this team is playing and acting like they haven’t practiced all week. They’ve been completely unprepared the past two weeks. The defensive seems to be responding to Fewell better than they did Sheridan, but the results have remained the same. At least Coughlin knows that if the Giants miss the postseason this year, he will be fired. I know my job isn’t on the line. So if he wants to continue to bring out unprepared teams week in and week out, be my guest. Just pack your bags and get out of New York for good once the season is over.

Even though the Giants have been horrific the past two weeks, they are still right in the mix in the NFC east. The Cowboys, Redskins, and Giants all are sitting at 1-2 with Philly leading the division at 2-1. I feel like a broken record saying this, but the Giants can still turn this around. I’m going to go ahead and say next Sunday’s game against the Bears is a must-win. If the Giants go 1-3, they won’t recover. So they better get it right this week. If not, I hope the GMen are prepared to get run out of town completely.  All of them.

Awesome Mascot Fight

Just found out the Ohio Bobcats mascot has officially been banned from all future Ohio University athletic events. That’s pretty reasonable, but how the hell are we going to know who he is?

The Yanks are looking good at the right time of the season. The bats are starting to come around again after a month and a half team slump. With Pettitte back, the rotation is looking solid. Let’s hope the Bombers keep this up for two more weeks in order to clinch back to back AL East titles. I can smell October baby!!
