Hughes Sucks Again, Yanks Find a Way to Win

I’ve had enough with Hughes. This is 2009 Chien-Ming Wang all over again. Coming into the 2009 season, everyone though Wang was going to be the number two starter. What happened? His velocity decreased and his slider flattened out. This is exactly what’s happening with Hughes. Either Phil is hurt, or just doesn’t have good stuff anymore. Can Girardi please skip his next start? Have him throw an extended bullpen or something next week. This is Hughes’ third straight start where Bartolo Colon has had to step in and clean up the damage. He’s done a damn good job so far in middle relief and deserves to start in front of Phil.

From an offensive standpoint, I can’t praise this lineup enough. What a comeback! The Yankees had no business winning that ballgame, but they found a way to get it done. This is what separates the good from the great. Even though it’s early, this is very impressive. If Posada and Martin continue being this clutch, it’s going to be a fun lineup to watch. Also, who can forget Joba tagging out Felix Pie at the plate in the 8th inning? Undoubtedly, the play of the year so far. With a game-tying home run by Posada and a walk-off sac fly by Swishalicious in the tenth, the Yanks have found themselves on top the division yet again. Yanks take on the Rangers tonight at 7pm at the Stadium.
