Don’t get me wrong, I hate Sean Avery. Ever since he has rocked the blue sweater, I’ve despised him. He is one of the dirtiest players in the league who deserves to get his ass kicked. But why is he getting so much shit for this advertisement? Throughout the country, people have been outraged because of his support. Are you kidding me? After watching this ad, I’ve gained a ton of respect for Avery. This shows that off the ice, he’s actually not that bad of a guy. If you don’t support gay marriage, that’s your opinion. But don’t criticize someone who supports it. Already a hockey reporter and sports agent have publicly criticized Avery about this advertisement. Fortunately, the reporter got fired. So coming from an Isles fan, everyone get off Avery’s ass. He’s got the right to say what he wants. If you don’t like it, shut up.

Sean Avery has actually been a great for hockey. As opposed to football, baseball and basketball, hockey doesn’t have that many athletes who are in the celebrity spotlight. But Avery has put hockey on the map off of the ice. Since he’s dated celebrities such as Elisha Cuthbert, Rachel Hunter, and Mary-Kate Olsen, he has been in the center of Hollywood news throughout his career. He has also done a great deal of fashion work for Vogue magazine. This kind of publicity has given hockey a much bigger fan base. So as a hockey fan, I appreciate how Avery has expanded the popularity of the league. Having said all of this, I still hate Sean Avery as a hockey player.
