Boudreau Talks Shit About MSG, How Will the Garden React?

“Well, the one thing, its reputation is far better than the actual building. I mean, it’s nothing. The locker rooms are horrible. The benches are horrible. There’s no room for anything. But the reputation of being in Madison Square Garden is what makes it famous. Also, our building’s a lot louder, too. So I mean, they can say what they want, but it’s not that loud in there.”

Wow! I like it! There’s nothing like some good controversy in the first round of the playoffs. I’ve never heard of a hockey coach criticize an opposing team’s arena before. This is great for the NHL. Tomorrow night, all eyes will be on this series and how the Garden will react. How much will they boo? What will they chant? Now here’s the thing, I know that he criticized the Garden. I take no offense to that because I could care less about that place when the Rangers are playing. If he criticized Knicks fans, it would be a whole other story. As a matter of fact, I like Boudreau. In December, I watched all four episodes of “Pens-Caps 24/7” on HBO. Coach Boudreau had some epic moments during the documentary. Given how much he’s a loose cannon when it comes to speaking in public, it doesn’t surprise me that he would say something like this. The Rangers take on the Caps for Game 4 tomorrow night – 7pm at the Garden. Capitals still lead the series 2-1.
