Rangers Head Back to the Garden Down 2-0

Not the Way You Want to Begin the Playoffs

After two disappointing games at the Verizon Center in Washington DC, the Rangers find themselves coming back to the Garden with their backs against the wall. I’m not saying that this series is over, but the Rangers must win Game 3. I know that the Flyers came back down from a 3-0 series deficit, but you can’t expect that every year. Plus I don’t see this dynamic Capitals squad losing four straight anytime soon. Coming into the series, I thought the Rangers needed to take at least one from the Caps in Washington. In game one, they had a prime opportunity to take an early advantage in the series. With only eight minutes to go, the Rangers were holding onto a 1-0 lead. Lundqvist was playing out of his mind in net and the Blue Shirts had all the momentum. That was until the great Alex Ovechkin showed why he’s one of the greatest players in the game by scoring a clutch goal. The game would eventually go into overtime where Caps’ forward Alexander Semin would score the winning goal. In Game 2, the Rangers had no chance against Caps’ goalie Michael Neuvirth. Caps’ forwards Jason Chimera and Jason Arnott both scored to give Washington a 2-0 victory.

I’m sorry Ranger fans, but I have no sympathy towards the Blue Shirts. I’ve had too many bad experiences with Ranger fans at the Coliseum to ever root for them. I would be lying if I told you I didn’t want to watch the Caps sweep them at the Garden. Let’s see if the Rangers can bounce back in the series tomorrow night at 7pm on NBC.
