Yanks’ Bullpen Looks Unstoppable…So Far
If the Joba, Soriano, Rivera dominance continues, this will be a fun year for Yankee fans. This is the best bullpen combination the Yanks have had since 1998 with Graeme Lloyd, Jeff Nelson, and Rivera. Even though Joba looked sub-par on Sunday against Detroit, he bounced back having a solid 1-2-3 seventh inning. I knew that Rafael Soriano was going to be good, but I had no idea his stuff was THIS good. He’s making that 3 yr /$35 million contract worth every penny. Finally, Mariano looks like he’s on his way to another dominant season. Now I hope I don’t bring the Sports Illustrated curse to the Borough. If so, be prepared for an awful bullpen for the next couple of weeks.
Last night, Ivan Nova proved that he is going to be a solid starter for the Yankees this season. If Hughes doesn’t figure it out soon, Nova might jump to the number three spot in the rotation. If the Yanks get three earned in six innings from Nova on a consistent basis, they will be in phenomenal shape by the end of the season. The Yankees play the second game of a four game series vs. Minnesota tonight at 7:05pm.
