Four in a Row!
I can’t believe it, but the New York Islanders are the hottest team in hockey. Having won their fourth straight last night in Ottawa, they’ve climbed up to 13th place in the Eastern Conference and are only eight games under .500. After their abysmal fall, I would’ve never thought they would bounce back this much. Like I’ve said before, there’s still a 1% chance this team makes the playoffs this year, but that doesn’t matter right now. Finally, this team is starting to come together. When the Isles are running on all cylinders, they are a very difficult team to beat. Grabner remains the hottest player in the league by improving his scoring streak to six games and Nathan Lawson earned his first NHL victory.
To be honest, the Islanders didn’t play their best game last night. Their defense was still suspect and they must keep the penalties to a minimum. But like Kyle Okposo said after the game, this team is figuring out ways to win games. Hopefully, the Isles keep this win streak going against Boston on Thursday night. Don’t expect any playoff runs, but let’s hope for a fantastic final two months so we can look forward to a promising 2011-2012 season.
