Isles Defeat Thrashers 4-1; Start Second Half on the Right Foot

With two goals (one being the game-winner), Kyle Okposo is officially back. After the Islanders had a slow start (weird), they put together very impressive 2nd and 3rd periods. The Moulson-Tavares-Paranteau line was once gain incredible along with solid defense by Hamonic and McDonald. Throughout the last 40 minutes, the puck never seemed be in the Isles’ zone. I know that Thrashers’ goalie Odrej Pavelec didn’t have his best game, but our forwards put up some great shots.  Let’s not forget that Kevin Poulin earned his third career victory stopping 25 out of 26 shots.

This is a very promising start to the second half of the season. But beating the Thrashers isn’t as impressive as it looks. Atlanta has been struggling late losing seven of their last nine. A win tonight against Pittsburgh would show that the Isles may have turned the corner on a disappointing season. The puck drops tonight at 7pm.

Also, didn’t realize there were any Islanders fans in Atlanta. Great stuff!
