Tavares Scores Goal of the Year as Isles Win in Colorado
John Tavares is looking like an absolute stud these days. Tavares has 12 points (6 goals and 6 assists) in the Islanders’ last nine games and is showing no signs of slowing down. The most impressive play in Tavares’ young career happened yesterday against the Avalanche in overtime. The momentum was clearly on Colorado’s side after the Avalanche’s game-tying goal with four seconds to go, but JT took over the game and scored what was perhaps the most impressive goal this season. With just under two minutes left in OT, Tavares skated into the crease and put a wrist shot past Avalanche goaltender, Craig Anderson, for the winning score.
Tonight, the Islanders will take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks to finish off their five game road trip.
