Islanders fire Scott Gordon
So since the Isles were first in the conference a month ago, shit has seriously hit the fan. The team have lost ten straight and they’ve done it in pure ugly fashion. Luckily, this is the perfect time to lose ten straight. Yesterday, the Islanders fired head coach Scott Gordon and has replaced him with Bridgeport coach Jack Capuano. Gordon was in his third and final year of his contract. GM Garth Snow has assigned Gordon to be an advisor in his staff.
I completely agree with this firing. In the NHL, when a team isn’t performing up to its potential, a coach needs to be fired. As soon as a team is playing lackluster, changes must be made. Just look at Philadelphia last year. They fired their coach in December after a mediocre start. In comes Peter Laviolette, who leads them to an Eastern Conference championship. If the Isles turn it around NOW, they will have a shot to get back in the mix for the postseason. There are a lot of shitty teams in the East right now. The Isles need to step up and perform the way they did in mid-October. Isles are back in the Coliseum tomorrow night against the Lightning.
