A Fireable Offense

It’s now official. The only two people who can stop the Yanks from winning every series are Javier Vazquez and Joe Girardi. Javy is giving up hits like its his job and I’ve never seen a more poorly managed baseball club since Grady Little back in ’03. I’ve seen managers make bad decisions, but I’ve never seen a manager so indecisive before in my life!  Let me take you through what happened yesterday.

With the Yankees down 5-4 in the 7th inning, Angels’ slugger Kendry Morales stepped up to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Girardi called for an intentional walk to load the bases. After the first ball, Girardi all of a sudden changed his mind and wanted Marte to throw to Morales.  Marte’s next two pitches were out of the strike zone, having the count go to 3-0. Marte then proceeded to look into the dugout to see if Girardi wanted to change his mind. He didn’t. Morales hit the next pitch over the fence to seal the win.

With the talent this team has, Girardi can do absolutely nothing and probably win 90+ games. But if he continues to pull this indecisive bullsh*t, fire him. Maybe just demote him back to bench coach and hire Donnie Baseball or something.

  1. Screw the Skankees

  2. Bellarmine Says:

Girardi also warned Cervelli that Morales would swing at a 3-0 pitch so don’t give him anything to hit. Sometimes the players have to play no matter what the manager says – I’m sure Girardi didn’t say “Hey it’s the 7th inning and we’re behind by a run so let this guy hit a three run home run to make sure we get home early enough to watch ’60 minutes’ “.

  3. […] I’ll start out by saying how much I hate All-Star games are managed. If I was managing the American  League all-star team, David Price is giving me 7 strong. Then I have Rafael Soriano in the 8th and Jose Valverde in the 9th. Joe Girardi didn’t manage this game to win it. He managed this game for everyone to get playing time. If winning isn’t your top priority, there’s a good chance you won’t win the game. I don’t give a fuck if the Rays get pissed off with me if Price throws 100+ pitches. You play to win the game. Having witnessed what was perhaps the worst managed game in all of baseball, I’m deeply concerned about the Yankees in the postseason. I honestly believe with the talent the Yanks have this year, a 12 year old who knows nothing about baseball could manage better than Girardi. I get it. Girardi is a numbers guy. But this makes Girardi over-think, just like he did against the Angels a couple of months ago. (https://burkeny.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/a-fireable-offense/) […]
