(The Record) BOSTON — Umpire Joe West blasted the Yankees and Red Sox just before Wednesday’s game, accusing the two clubs of being “pathetic and embarrassing” in dragging the pace of games and refusing to work with umpires. The two teams, notorious for the slow tempo of their games, were denied some timeouts in the batter’s box by home plate umpire Angel Hernandez during Tuesday night’s 6-4 Yankees victory. “They’re the two clubs that don’t try to pick up the pace,” said West, chief of the umpiring crew that worked the three-game series in Boston. He was the home plate umpire Sunday. “They’re two of the best teams in baseball. Why are they playing the slowest? “It’s pathetic and embarrassing. They take too long to play.”

This guy has always believed the center of the baseball world revolves around himself. Whenever he’s behind the dish, he always sees the pitch, pauses for about four seconds, then calls it. All this Charlie Weiss look-a-like wants is attention. Plus, his strike zone is about the size of Barry Bonds’ ball sack. Yea I know that umpire are a crucial part of the game. But you know what, I don’t care about them at all. Just make the right call and don’t interfere with the play of the game. The game isn’t about you. When A-Rod is up, the Yanks are paying like $2,000 for that at bat. He better get all the time he wants. I don’t care if it’s an hour. Face it. The game revolves around the players. Not the time of the game, the fans, or especially fat-ass umpires like douchebag Joe. When the dude is ready to hit, he’ll hit. Suck it up Joe. Maybe you should worry about getting rid of your quadrouple chins than waiting an extra few seconds for play to resume.
