Finally!!

For the first time in 5BS history, I can finally say THE ISLANDERS WIN!!! By far this was one of the most exciting games of the season. For 59 minutes and 48 seconds, this was a typical Islander game during this horrendous slump. Then it came…the spark, the one goal this team has desperately needed. Mark Streit scored a power play goal with 12 seconds left in the game to tie it up. All game, the Isles were playing behind. Nashville was putting pressure on the defense all game and seemed to have the game in hand, even when it was tied at 2 after the 2nd period. Also, in his NHL debut, Matt Martin scored 2 key assists adding to the list of youngsters who show phenomenal potential.   I don’t want to jinx anything, but these are the wins that produce hot streaks. Given the fact that the Isles are headed to Pittsburgh, I’m not expecting a winning streak. Nonetheless, I’m hoping the Isles can stir something up before the two week break.
