Knicks / Wizards tonight at 8pm
After a heart-breaking loss against the Raptors two nights ago, the Knicks will try to regroup against the struggling Washington Wizards. Even though the Wizards defeated the lowly Nets last night in the Meadowlands, Washington has had quite a season to forget. After an altercation with the use of guns in the locker room month between star guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Javaris Crittenton, the Wizards will be forced to play without their star player and key member off the bench for the entire season. Arenas has not only been suspended by the NBA for the remainder of the season, he is facing severe criminal charges as well. This major distraction has caused the Wizards to drop to 13th place in the Eastern Conference and 15 games out of the Southeast Division lead. Even with the strong play of David Lee, (he has had a double-double in seven straight games), the Knicks have struggled recently losing seven of their last ten games.
The Knicks desperately need this game to stay in contention. If they come ready to play, the Knicks should easily win this game. If they are a more talented and a better coached team than the Wiz. For the rest of the season, I’m not expecting any miracles victories against the Cavaliers, Magic, or Celtics. However, I do expect the Knicks to come out strong against the Eastern Conference celler-dwellers. If the Knicks defeat the teams they should beat, it should be a fun second half of the season for Knicks fans.
